                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of February 1, 1966 (1965 P.L.1656, No.581),
     2     entitled "An act concerning boroughs, and revising, amending
     3     and consolidating the law relating to boroughs," further
     4     providing for powers of borough council.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 1202 of the act of February 1, 1966 (1965
     8  P.L.1656, No.581), known as The Borough Code, is amended by
     9  adding a clause to read:
    10     Section 1202.  Specific Powers.--The powers of the borough
    11  shall be vested in the corporate authorities. Among the specific
    12  powers of the borough shall be the following, and in the
    13  exercise of any of such powers involving the enactment of any
    14  ordinance or the making of any regulation, restriction or
    15  prohibition, the borough may provide for the enforcement thereof
    16  and may prescribe penalties for the violation thereof or for the
    17  failure to conform thereto:

     2     (82)  Appropriations to length of service award programs. To
     3  appropriate money to any program paying solely length of service
     4  awards to bona fide volunteers, or their beneficiaries, on
     5  account of qualified services performed by the volunteers,
     6  provided that the program satisfies the special rules relating
     7  to such programs under section 457(e)(11) of the Internal
     8  Revenue Code of 1986 (Public Law 99-514, 26 U.S.C. §
     9  457(e)(11)).
    10     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
