AN ACT
1 Regulating the housing of juvenile delinquents and providing for
2 the termination of certain contracts for their care and
3 supervision.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Juveniles adjudicated delinquent and sentenced to
7 confinement by a juvenile court of this Commonwealth shall be
8 housed only in facilities owned by the Commonwealth and operated
9 by employees of the Commonwealth.
10 Section 2. The Department of Public Welfare and the Bureau
11 of Corrections shall not contract with a person or corporation
12 for profit or not for profit, or an unincorporated association
13 for the housing of juveniles adjudicated delinquent and
14 sentenced to confinement by a juvenile court of this
15 Commonwealth.
16 Section 3. Contracts entered into prior to the effective
17 date of this act for the care or supervision of delinquent
18 juveniles, shall be terminated at the earliest date permitted by
1 the terms of such contracts.
2 Section 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
