                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of April 1, 1909 (P.L.91, No.53), entitled "An
     2     act relating to deeds for conveying or releasing lands,
     3     construing words and phrases used therein, and prescribing a
     4     form of deed and acknowledgment which may be used for
     5     conveying or releasing lands," providing for formalities
     6     prior to recordation.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  The act of April 1, 1909 (P.L.91, No.53),
    10  entitled "An act relating to deeds for conveying or releasing
    11  lands, construing words and phrases used therein, and
    12  prescribing a form of deed and acknowledgment which may be used
    13  for conveying or releasing lands," is amended by adding sections
    14  to read:
    15     Section 10.  All deeds hereafter executed, granting or
    16  conveying lands shall be acknowledged by the grantee or grantees
    17  and the grantor or grantors, before such deeds may be indexed;
    18  no deed shall be deemed to be properly recorded unless it
    19  contains such acknowledgment in accordance with the provisions


     1  of this act.
     2     Section 11.  Prior to recordation, the grantee or grantees
     3  and grantor or grantors shall acknowledge that the names
     4  appearing on the deed are their truthful names or names by which
     5  they are known and that the addresses provided by the deed are
     6  their residences, and, in the case of a corporation or
     7  partnership, that the name on the deed is that under which such
     8  corporation is registered and the address is that of its
     9  principal place of business.
    10     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
