AN ACT 1 Amending the act of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177, No.175), entitled 2 "An act providing for and reorganizing the conduct of the 3 executive and administrative work of the Commonwealth by the 4 Executive Department thereof and the administrative 5 departments, boards, commissions, and officers thereof, 6 including the boards of trustees of State Normal Schools, or 7 Teachers Colleges; abolishing, creating, reorganizing or 8 authorizing the reorganization of certain administrative 9 departments, boards, and commissions; defining the powers and 10 duties of the Governor and other executive and administrative 11 officers, and of the several administrative departments, 12 boards, commissions, and officers; fixing the salaries of the 13 Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and certain other executive 14 and administrative officers; providing for the appointment of 15 certain administrative officers, and of all deputies and 16 other assistants and employes in certain departments, boards, 17 and commissions; and prescribing the manner in which the 18 number and compensation of the deputies and all other 19 assistants and employes of certain departments, boards and 20 commissions shall be determined," imposing additional duties 21 on the Department of Transportation and the Civil Service 22 Commission; requiring standardized tests for the positions of 23 county maintenance supervisor and assistant county 24 maintenance supervisors and requiring current supervisors to 25 submit to such test within one year after development. 26 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 27 hereby enacts as follows: 28 Section 1. The act of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177, No.175), known 29 as "The Administrative Code of 1929," is amended by adding a
1 section to read: 2 Section 2004.1. Selection of County Maintenance 3 Supervisors.--(a) All individuals to be considered by the 4 Department of Transportation for appointment to the position of 5 county maintenance supervisor or assistant county maintenance 6 supervisor shall submit to a standardized test to be developed 7 by the Civil Service Commission and administered by said 8 commission at such times and in such places as requested by the 9 Department of Transportation. The results of such standardized 10 tests shall be forwarded to the Department of Transportation and 11 shall be the basis used by the Secretary of Transportation in 12 filling, at his pleasure, vacancies in these positions and 13 making new appointments to the position of county maintenance 14 supervisor or assistant county maintenance supervisor. 15 (b) All individuals who hold positions as county maintenance 16 supervisors or assistant county maintenance supervisors and who 17 have not complied with the provisions of subsection (a) shall, 18 within one year from the development of such standardized tests, 19 submit to and pass such test in order to retain such positions. 20 (c) The Civil Service Commission in cooperation with the 21 Department of Transportation shall develop a standardized test 22 which relates to the function, duties, operations and 23 responsibilities of the positions of county maintenance 24 supervisor and assistant county maintenance supervisor. 25 Section 2.
