AN ACT
1 Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
2 act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
3 welfare laws of the Commonwealth," providing for payment of
4 the cost of burial of persons receiving public assistance.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. The act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known
8 as the "Public Welfare Code," is amended by adding a section to
9 read:
10 Section 318. Burial of Recipients of Public Assistance.--
11 Whenever the body of a recipient of public assistance is not
12 claimed by a relative, friend or charitable organization for
13 burial at their expense and the recipient's estate contains
14 insufficient funds for burial the Department of Public Welfare
15 shall pay a maximum of five hundred dollars ($500) of the
16 expenses connected with the burial.
17 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
