HOUSE BILL

                                     AN ACT

     1  Permitting nontherapeutic experimentation for medical procedures
     2     under certain conditions; and making a repeal.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5  Section 1.  Short title.
     6     This act shall be known and may be cited as the
     7  Nontherapeutic Medical Procedure Act.
     8  Section 2.  Medical procedures permitted.
     9     Notwithstanding the provisions of 18 Pa.C.S. § 3216 (relating
    10  to fetal experimentation) or any other act, nontherapeutic
    11  experimentation or nontherapeutic medical procedures on an
    12  unborn child, as described in 18 Pa.C.S. § 3216, shall be
    13  permitted to the same extent and shall be subject to the same
    14  requirements and conditions as they are permitted under policies
    15  adopted by the National Institute of Health pertaining to
    16  Federal funding of stem cell research.
    17  Section 3.  Repeal.

     1     All acts and parts of acts are repealed insofar as they are
     2  inconsistent with this act.
     3  Section 4.  Effective date.
     4     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
