                                     AN ACT

     1  Making an appropriation to the Department of Transportation for
     2     allocation to third class cities for the installation of
     3     warning signs in school zones.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  The sum of $2,000,000, or as much thereof as may
     7  be necessary, is hereby appropriated from the General Fund to
     8  the Department of Transportation for the fiscal year July 1,
     9  1987, to June 30, 1988, to carry out this act.
    10     Section 2.  The Department of Transportation shall allocate
    11  the funds appropriated by this act to third class cities for the
    12  purpose of installing warning signs for school zones within the
    13  boundaries of the respective cities. The department shall, by
    14  regulation, establish a formula for this allocation based upon
    15  the following factors:
    16         (1)  Fifty percent traffic volume.
    17         (2)  Fifty percent pupil enrollment.
    18         (3)  The number of cities applying for funds.

     1     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
