AN ACT

Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An

act relating to the public school system, including certain

provisions applicable as well to private and parochial

schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the

laws relating thereto," in preliminary provisions, providing

for notice to parents and guardians of school bus accidents.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known

as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a

section to read:

Section 118.  Notice to Parents and Guardians of School Bus

Accidents.--The chief administrator or authorized representative

of a school district, upon receipt of a verbal or written notice

from the owner or operator of a school bus transporting students

of the school district that the school bus is involved in an

accident while students were being transported, shall, as soon

as practicable, notify the parents and guardians of the students

transported by the school bus of the accident, regardless of

whether the accident is required to be reported under 75 Pa.C.S.

Ch. 37 Subch. C (relating to accidents and accident reports) or

regulation of the Department of Transportation or the Department

of Education.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
