AN ACT
1 Establishing minimum rates of compensation for chiefs,
2 superintendents or commissioners of police of municipalities.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Except in cities of the first and second class,
6 the chief, superintendent or commissioner of police in a
7 municipality shall be entitled to an annual rate of compensation
8 which shall not be less than the following ratios to the highest
9 annual rate of compensation of a full-time police officer or
10 patrolman:
11 (1) In police departments having five or less full-time
12 police officers, the ratio is 1.2.
13 (2) In police departments having not less six nor more than
14 12 full-time police officers, the ratio is 1.3.
15 (3) In police departments having not less than 12 nor more
16 than 29 full-time police officers, the ratio is 1.6.
17 (4) In police departments having 30 or more full-time police
18 officers, the ratio is 1.8.
1 Section 2. Municipalities may implement the requirements of
2 this by providing for increments in compensation within three
3 years after enactment hereof.
4 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
