AN ACT 1 Amending Title 30 (Fish) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, providing for reduced license fees for former 3 prisoners of war. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 2707 of Title 30 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: 8 § 2707. Disabled veterans and former prisoners of war. 9 (a) General rule for disabled veterans.--Any disabled 10 veteran who has a disability incurred in any war or armed 11 conflict which consists of the loss of one or more limbs, or the 12 loss of use of one or more limbs, or total blindness, or who is 13 100% disabled as certified by the United States Department of 14 Veterans Affairs, and who meets the qualifications of section
1 2701 (relating to resident fishing licenses), shall be issued a 2 free resident fishing license upon application to the commission 3 or a county treasurer. An application [under this section] 4 submitted by a disabled veteran shall, in addition to any 5 information required under section 2701, contain a statement 6 that the applicant is a war or armed conflict veteran and that 7 the qualifying disability was service incurred. The issuing 8 agent or the commission may require the production of the 9 discharge papers of the applicant. 10 (a.1) General rule for former prisoners of war.--A former 11 prisoner of war who meets the qualifications of section 2701 12 shall be entitled to purchase ISSUED a resident fishing license <-- 13 at the cost of $1 upon application to the commission or a county 14 treasurer. An application submitted by a former prisoner of war 15 shall, in addition to any information required under section 16 2701, contain a statement that the applicant is a former 17 prisoner of war. As used in this subsection, the term "former 18 prisoner of war" means an individual who was imprisoned by enemy 19 forces while in the service of the armed forces of the United 20 States as certified by the appropriate branch of the armed 21 forces of the United States. 22 (b) Lifetime licenses.-- 23 (1) If a disabled veteran who qualifies for issuance of 24 a free resident fishing license under subsection (a) presents 25 documentation to show that the qualifying disability is 26 permanent, the commission or county treasurer shall issue a 27 disabled veteran lifetime fishing license. 28 (2) A former prisoner of war who meets the 29 qualifications of section 2701(b) shall be entitled to <-- 30 purchase ISSUED a senior resident lifetime fishing license at <-- 20050H1504B3467 - 2 -
1 the cost of $1 upon application to the commission or a county 2 treasurer. 3 (c) Home rule and optional plan counties.--In a county where 4 there is no county treasurer by virtue of a home rule charter or 5 optional plan of government, the county official who performs 6 the functions of a county treasurer and who has been designated 7 an issuing agent by the commission shall issue free resident 8 fishing licenses to disabled veterans and REDUCED FEE RESIDENT <-- 9 FISHING LICENSES TO former prisoners of war under this section. 10 Section 2.
