AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for inspections of school buses.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Section 4702(b) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
6 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
7 § 4702. Requirement for periodic inspection of vehicles.

9 (b) Semiannual inspection of certain vehicles.--School
10 buses, passenger vans under contract with or owned by a school
11 district or private or parochial school, including vehicles
12 having chartered, group and party rights under the Public
13 Utility Commission and used to transport school students,
14 passenger vans used to transport persons for hire or owned by a
15 commercial enterprise and used for the transportation of
16 employees to or from their place of employment, trailers having
17 a registered gross weight in excess of 10,000 pounds,
1 construction trucks for which annual permits are issued pursuant
2 to section 4970(b) (relating to permit for movement of
3 construction equipment), mass transit vehicles and motor carrier
4 vehicles shall be subject to semiannual inspection. All school
5 buses shall be inspected on or before February 1 and on or
6 before August 1 of each year, and these inspections shall not be
7 performed by any official inspection station on any school bus
8 it provides to any school district.
