AN ACT
1 Prohibiting compensation change during a municipal official's
2 term.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Short title.
6 This act shall be known and may be cited as the Municipal
7 Officials Compensation Change Act.
8 Section 2. Definitions.
9 The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
10 have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
11 context clearly indicates otherwise:
12 "Municipal office." An elective public office in a
13 municipality to which a person is elected by the voters or
14 appointed to fill an unexpired term.
15 "Municipality." A county, city, borough, incorporated town,
16 township of the first class, township of the second class,
17 including those operating under any home rule charter or
1 optional charter or optional plan of government or similar
2 general purpose unit of government which may be created by
3 statute after the effective date of this act.
4 Section 3. Prohibition of change in compensation for holding
5 municipal office during current term.
6 A law or ordinance enacted during the term of a person
7 holding a municipal office which increases or decreases the
8 compensation to be paid for holding that office shall not be
9 implemented with regard to that person for the remainder of that
10 term.
11 Section 4. Effective date.
12 This act shall take effect immediately.
