        AS AMENDED ON THIRD CONSIDERATION, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
           NOVEMBER 9, 2004

                                     AN ACT

     1  Authorizing and directing the Department of Health to establish
     2     a task force to investigate toxic mold in homes, schools and
     3     buildings and the potential health hazards it may cause; and
     4     providing for exposure limits.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7  Section 1.  Task force established.
     8     (a)  Establishment.--The Department of Health shall establish
     9  a task force on toxic mold.
    10     (b)  Purpose.--The purpose of the task force established in
    11  subsection (a) shall be to investigate toxic mold in homes,
    12  schools and buildings and the potential health hazards it may
    13  cause.
    14     (c)  Composition.--The members of the task force shall be
    15  comprised of various individuals, the number to be determined by


     1  the Department of Health and shall include health officers,
     2  health and medical experts, ARCHITECTS, mold abatement experts,   <--
     3  affected consumers and representatives of affected industries,
     4  including forest products, residential, commercial and
     5  industrial tenants, proprietors, landlords, insurers, LENDERS     <--
     6  and builders.
     7     (d)  Duties.--The task force shall advise the Department of
     8  Health on the development of exposure limits to mold, standards
     9  for assessment of molds in indoor environments and standards for
    10  identification and remediation of mold.
    11  Section 2.  Effective date.
    12     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
