                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 23, 1931 (P.L.932, No.317), entitled
     2     "An act relating to cities of the third class; and amending,
     3     revising, and consolidating the law relating thereto,"
     4     further providing for building and housing ordinance
     5     penalties.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 4131 of the act of June 23, 1931
     9  (P.L.932, No.317), known as The Third Class City Code, reenacted
    10  and amended June 28, 1951 (P.L.662, No.164) and amended July 29,
    11  1971 (P.L.250, No.61), is amended to read:
    12     Section 4131.  Form of Building Ordinance, Housing Ordinance;
    13  Passage; Penalties.--The building ordinance, the housing
    14  ordinance, the fire prevention ordinance, the electrical
    15  ordinance and the plumbing ordinance may adopt any standard or
    16  nationally recognized building code, any standard or nationally
    17  recognized housing code, any standard or nationally recognized
    18  fire prevention code, or any standard or nationally recognized
    19  electrical code, or any standard or nationally recognized

     1  plumbing code, or any variations or changes or parts thereof,
     2  published and printed in book form, covering any or all of the
     3  above items, without incorporating such code in the ordinance,
     4  or any city may enact any such building code, housing code, fire
     5  prevention code, electrical code, or plumbing code, or any
     6  changes or variations or parts thereof, as its building
     7  ordinance, as its housing ordinance, as its fire prevention
     8  code, as its electrical code or as its plumbing code. In either
     9  event, the building ordinance or code, the housing ordinance or
    10  code, the fire prevention ordinance or code, the electrical
    11  ordinance or code, and the plumbing ordinance or code, or any
    12  changes or variations or parts thereof, need not be advertised
    13  after passage, but notice of its consideration, in reasonable
    14  detail shall be published as required by section one thousand
    15  fourteen of this act. Not less than three copies of the building
    16  ordinance, the housing ordinance, the fire prevention ordinance,
    17  the electrical ordinance or the plumbing ordinance adopted by
    18  council shall be made available to public inspection and use
    19  during business hours for at least three months after its
    20  adoption. The building ordinance, the housing ordinance, the
    21  fire prevention ordinance, the electrical ordinance, and the
    22  plumbing ordinance may provide proper fines and penalties [not
    23  exceeding three hundred dollars for violations thereof.]
    24  consistent with the provisions of clause 60 of section 2403. The
    25  procedure herein set forth relating to the adoption of such
    26  building ordinances, housing ordinances, fire prevention
    27  ordinances, electrical ordinances and plumbing ordinances may
    28  likewise be adopted in amending, supplementing or repealing any
    29  of the provisions of such ordinances.
    30     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
