AN ACT 1 Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled 2 "An act relating to counties of the third, fourth, fifth, 3 sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, revising, 4 consolidating and changing the laws relating thereto," 5 further providing for police officers. 6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 7 hereby enacts as follows: 8 Section 1. The act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), 9 known as The County Code, is amended by adding a section to 10 read: 11 Section 2326.1. Duties of Police Officers.--The board of 12 commissioners may employ and equip one or more police officers 13 to guard and protect all county buildings and surrounding 14 grounds, as well as all real property owned by the county, and 15 to enforce the laws of this Commonwealth and the rules and 16 regulations ordained or resolved by the county commissioners. 17 Such police officers shall have the power to arrest on view any 18 person violating the same. 19 Section 2. Sections 2511 and 2512 of the act are amended to
1 read: 2 Section 2511. Employes; Police.--For the purpose of 3 performing all necessary duties relating to the establishing, 4 making, enlarging, extending and maintaining public parks and 5 for enforcing the laws of this Commonwealth and the rules and 6 regulations ordained or resolved by the county commissioners or 7 by any body or board of control where no penalty or fine is 8 involved, the county commissioners of the county are hereby 9 authorized to employ or appoint and equip proper persons to do 10 all necessary and proper work connected therewith, including 11 police or guard duty. 12 Section 2512. Duty of Police.--It shall be the duty of the 13 police officers or guards employed or appointed to duty in any 14 recreation places, without warrant, forthwith to arrest any 15 offender against the rules and regulations, ordained or resolved 16 by the county commissioners or the laws of this Commonwealth, 17 that they may detect in the commission of such offense, and to 18 take the person so arrested forthwith before a magistrate, 19 alderman or justice of the peace having competent jurisdiction. 20 Section 3.
