        AS AMENDED ON THIRD CONSIDERATION, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
           JULY 16, 2003

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for drivers in funeral
     3     processions; AND PROVIDING FOR STUDENT DRIVER SIGNS.           <--

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 3107 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
     8  § 3107.  Drivers in funeral processions.
     9     * * *
    10     (b.1)  Visual signals authorized.--Notwithstanding any other
    11  provision of this title to the contrary, a funeral director or
    12  the director's representative may display flashing or revolving
    13  yellow lights in any funeral processional vehicle while
    14  traveling to or returning from a funeral destination.             <--

     1     SECTION 2.  TITLE 75 IS AMENDED BY ADDING A SECTION TO READ:   <--
     2  § 4538.  STUDENT DRIVER SIGNS.
     3     (A)  GENERAL RULE.--A VEHICLE THAT IS OPERATED BY A STUDENT
     4  DRIVER SHALL DISPLAY A SIGN OF SUCH SIZE AND LETTERING AS THE
     5  DEPARTMENT DETERMINES APPROPRIATE IN ORDER TO ALERT OTHER
     6  MOTORISTS THAT THE PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS BEING OPERATED BY A
     7  STUDENT DRIVER.
     8     (B)  DEFINITION.--AS USED IN THIS SECTION, THE TERM "STUDENT
     9  DRIVER" MEANS A PERSON WITH A VALID LEARNER'S PERMIT ISSUED
    10  UNDER SECTION 1505 (RELATING TO LEARNERS' PERMITS).
    11     Section 2 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.           <--
