A RESOLUTION 1 Urging the Governor to establish sister state relations with the 2 Fujian Province of the People's Republic of China in the 3 areas of arts and culture, economic development and travel 4 and tourism. 5 WHEREAS, The Fujian Province of the People's Republic of 6 China is located in the southeastern coastal region of China and 7 has been open to the world for a long time; and 8 WHEREAS, The Fujian Province has a population of 9 approximately 34.5 million people, a land area of 121,000 square 10 kilometers and an annual gross domestic product of approximately 11 $570 billion; and 12 WHEREAS, There are about 450,000 citizens of the Fujian 13 Province who live in the United States; and 14 WHEREAS, More than 100 Fujian overseas businessmen maintain 15 close ties to the Fujian Province's economy and businesses that 16 invest overseas; and 17 WHEREAS, It is in the best interests of the Commonwealth of 18 Pennsylvania to establish a sister state relationship with the
1 Fujian Province in the areas of arts and culture, economic 2 development and travel and tourism; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the Governor 4 to establish sister state relations with the Fujian Province of 5 the People's Republic of China in the areas of arts and culture, 6 economic development and travel and tourism.
