        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 17, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Expressing condolences and appreciation for the life of U.S.
     2     Army Captain Nathan R. Raudenbush, 25, who died in Iraq on
     3     May 21, 2008, while in courageous service to his country.

     4     WHEREAS, U.S. Army Captain Nathan R. Raudenbush, 25, died
     5  Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in south Baghdad while on patrol in a
     6  vehicle that was hit by an explosive device; and
     7     WHEREAS, A first lieutenant at the time of his death, Captain
     8  Raudenbush had been approved for promotion and was posthumously
     9  promoted to captain before he was laid to rest; and
    10     WHEREAS, Captain Raudenbush was a tank commander with Bravo
    11  Troop of the 3rd Platoon, 6-8 Cavalry Regiment based at Fort
    12  Stewart, Georgia; and
    13     WHEREAS, A graduate of Spring-Ford High School, Montgomery
    14  County, Captain Raudenbush joined Reserve Officers' Training
    15  Corps (ROTC) in his freshmen year at Widener University and was
    16  commissioned a second lieutenant upon graduation with a computer
    17  science degree in 2005; and
    18     WHEREAS, A dedicated soldier, officer and family man, Captain

     1  Raudenbush is survived by his wife Casey; 20 month-old son,
     2  Jackson; his parents, Mary and Brian; and sister, Jennifer; and
     3     WHEREAS, In this hero's honor, a fund for Jackson's education
     4  has been established as the Nathan R. Raudenbush Memorial Fund
     5  at National Penn Bank, 702 E. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA
     6  19460; and
     7     WHEREAS, It is fitting that this courageous and brave son of
     8  Pennsylvania, who paid the supreme sacrifice in the service of
     9  his nation on May 21, 2008, be honored by his fellow
    10  Pennsylvanians; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express
    12  condolences and appreciation for the life of U.S. Army Captain
    13  Nathan R. Raudenbush, 25, who died in Iraq on May 21, 2008,
    14  while courageously serving his country.
