                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of April 29, 1959 (P.L.58, No.32), entitled "An
     2     act consolidating and revising the Vehicle Code, the Tractor
     3     Code, the Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Act and
     4     other acts relating to the ownership, possession and use of
     5     vehicles and tractors," requiring letters to be sent when a
     6     person's record indicates four or five points and eliminating
     7     an interview.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  Subsections (e) and (h) of section 619.1, act of
    11  April 29, 1959 (P.L.58, No.32), known as "The Vehicle Code,"
    12  added January 24, 1966 (1965 P.L.1497, No.527), are amended to
    13  read:
    14     Section 619.1.  Point System for Driver Education, Testing
    15  and Suspension.--

    17     (e)  When any person's record shows as many as three (3)
    18  points, the secretary shall send to such person at his last
    19  known address a letter of notice pointing out such fact and
    20  emphasizing the nature and effects of the point system. If
    21  subsequent thereto the person's record is increased to four (4)

     1  or five (5) points additional letters shall be sent. Failure of
     2  any person to receive such a letter of notice shall not prevent
     3  suspension of his operator's license or learner's permit
     4  pursuant to this section. In the case of an operator who is a
     5  minor, the secretary may send a similar letter of notice to the
     6  minor's parent or guardian for his information.

     8     [(h)  When any person's record has been reduced below six (6)
     9  points and for the third or any additional time shows as many as
    10  six (6) points, the secretary or his representative shall
    11  require such person to attend an interview wherein the record of
    12  such person shall be reviewed, and the secretary shall take such
    13  action as he shall deem proper.]
