                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 31, 2003 (P.L.73, No.17), entitled "An
     2     act establishing a grant program for volunteer fire companies
     3     and volunteer ambulance services; and providing for grant
     4     funding," extending deadlines for filing grant applications.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Sections 303(c) and (d), 503(c) and 901 of the
     8  act of July 31, 2003 (P.L.73, No.17), known as the Volunteer
     9  Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Act, amended
    10  July 15, 2004 (P.L.712, No.80), are amended to read:
    11  Section 303.  Award of grants.

     1     (c)  Time for filing application and department action.--
     2         (1)  The agency shall provide applications for grants
     3     under this act to the fire chief and president of every
     4     volunteer fire company in this Commonwealth on or before July
     5     31, [2004] 2005.
     6         (2)  Volunteer fire companies seeking grants under this
     7     act shall submit completed applications to the agency on or
     8     before December 31, [2004] 2005. The agency shall act to
     9     approve or disapprove the application by May 1, [2005] 2006.
    10     Applications which have not been approved or disapproved by
    11     the agency by May 1, [2005] 2006, shall be deemed approved.
    12     (d)  Eligibility.--To receive grant funds under this act, a
    13  volunteer fire company shall have actively responded to one or
    14  more fire or rescue emergencies since July 1, [2003] 2004, and
    15  must sign an agreement to actively participate in the
    16  Pennsylvania Fire Information Reporting System which is
    17  administered by the agency.
    18  Section 503.  Award of grants.

    20     (c)  Time for filing application and department action.--
    21         (1)  The agency shall provide applications for grants
    22     under this act to the president of every volunteer ambulance
    23     service in this Commonwealth on or before July 31, [2004]
    24     2005.
    25         (2)  Volunteer ambulance services seeking grants under
    26     this chapter shall submit completed applications to the
    27     agency on or before December 31, [2004] 2005. The agency
    28     shall act to approve or disapprove the application by May 1,
    29     [2005] 2006. Applications which have not been approved or
    30     disapproved by the agency by May 1, [2005] 2006, shall be

     1     deemed approved.
     2  Section 901.  Expiration of authority.
     3     The authority of the agency to award grants under Chapters 3
     4  and 5 shall expire June 30, [2005] 2006.
     5     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
