AN ACT
1 Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for offenses relating to
3 sterilization abuse.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 7508. Sterilization abuse.
9 (a) Offenses defined.--
10 (1) A person commits a misdemeanor of the first degree
11 if he intentionally and knowingly engages in sterilization
12 abuse or assists another or participates in sterilization
13 abuse.
14 (2) A person commits a misdemeanor of the third degree
15 if he intentionally and knowingly conceals sterilization
16 abuse.
17 (b) License revocation.--The license of any physician, nurse
18 or other licensed health care professional may be revoked upon a
1 second or subsequent conviction under this section.
2 (c) Definition.--As used in this section "sterilization
3 abuse" means the act or practice of human sterilizations which
4 does not conform to State or Federal law or which does not
5 conform to accepted medical standards and procedures.
6 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
