A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 27, 2018, as "World Spay Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Cats, dogs and other animals possess unique
personalities and provide faithful companionship for many
Pennsylvanians; and
WHEREAS, Not all owners of these companion animals have their
pets spayed or neutered, which allows for the birth of unwanted
animals; and
WHEREAS, According to the American Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals, approximately 6.5 million animals enter
shelters each year in our country; and
WHEREAS, Approximately half of these animals are adopted to
new homes, while tragically many are euthanized; and
WHEREAS, The overwhelming majority of euthanized animals are
healthy and adoptable, yet still meet an untimely death because
insufficient resources exist to keep them alive until a suitable
