A RESOLUTION

 

1Recognizing the first consecutive Saturday and Sunday of each
2month as "National Small Business Weekend" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, The National Small Business Weekend Organization
4helps to promote the idea of purchasing locally by urging people
5to shop small businesses on the first weekend of each month; and

6WHEREAS, Small businesses employ 60 million Americans who
7live and work in area neighborhoods; and

8WHEREAS, Small businesses are a driving force behind our
9nation's economy, creating nearly two out of every three new
10jobs and generating close to 50% of our nation's nonfarm gross
11domestic product; and

12WHEREAS, Small businesses represent 99.7% of employer firms
13in the United States; and

14WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has the sixth largest labor force
15in the nation with more than 6.4 million workers; and

16WHEREAS, Small businesses represent 94.2% of employer firms

1in this Commonwealth; and

2WHEREAS, Small businesses are innovators, and their concerns
3serve to advance technology and productivity; and

4WHEREAS, Promoting locally made products and supporting small
5businesses will further strengthen our national economy and
6encourage businesses to offer more American-made products;
7therefore be it

8RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives acknowledge the
9National Small Business Weekend Organization for the good work
10they do in promoting the buy local, buy American campaign; and
11be it further

12RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
13first consecutive Saturday and Sunday of each month as "National
14Small Business Weekend" in Pennsylvania; and be it further

15RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
16The National Small Business Weekend Organization, 308 Walnut
17Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
