AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," providing for grants to school
6 districts, intermediate units or vocational technical schools
7 to defray costs of conversion of certain heating systems.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
11 as the "Public School Code of 1949," is amended by adding a
12 section to read:
13 Section 2593. Heat Plant Conversion Grants.--(a) In
14 addition to any funds distributed pursuant to any other
15 provision of this or any other act, the department may award a
16 grant to any school district, intermediate unit or vocational
17 technical school which converts from its current heating system
18 to a coal fired heating system.
1 (b) Grants awarded pursuant to subsection (a) shall not
2 exceed fifty per centum (50%) of the actual cost of conversion.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
