                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of May 28, 1715 (1Sm.L.94, Ch.208), entitled
     2     "An ACT for acknowledging and recording of deeds," further
     3     providing for satisfaction of mortgages and modernizing
     4     certain language.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section IX of the act of May 28, 1715 (1Sm.L.94,
     8  Ch.208), entitled "An ACT for acknowledging and recording of
     9  deeds," is amended to read:
    10     IX.  And be it further enacted, That any mortgagee of any
    11  real or personal estates in [this province] the Commonwealth,
    12  having received full satisfaction and payment of all such sum
    13  and sums of money as are really due to him by such mortgage,
    14  shall, at the request of the mortgagor, enter satisfaction
    15  either upon the margin of the record of such mortgage recorded
    16  in the said office or by means of a satisfaction piece, which
    17  shall for ever thereafter discharge, defeat and release the
    18  same; and shall likewise bar all actions brought, or to be


     1  brought thereupon.
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
