A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of October 25 through 31, 2015, as
"National Massage Therapy Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania to
honor the more than 7,900 licensed massage therapists in this
Commonwealth.
WHEREAS, Massage therapy is beneficial to overall health and
is increasingly part of integrated health care; and
WHEREAS, Consumers are spending $8 billion to $12 billion
annually on massage therapy; and
WHEREAS, Therapeutic massage can benefit people of all ages;
and
WHEREAS, A growing body of clinical research shows massage
therapy is beneficial for a wide variety of health issues,
including stress, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, arthritis,
back pain, muscle injury and soreness, headaches and solely for
maintaining good health; and

WHEREAS, The American Massage Therapy Association, a
professional association for massage therapists, provides
consumer and professional education information on massage and
helps consumers and health professionals locate qualified
massage therapists in their areas; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of October 25 through 31, 2015, as "National Massage
Therapy Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania to honor the more than
7,900 licensed massage therapists in this Commonwealth.
