A RESOLUTION 1 Honoring the Junior League of Erie on the occasion of its 75th 2 anniversary in 2000. 3 WHEREAS, In 1901 Mary Harriman established the first Junior 4 League in New York City in order to promote community service, 5 child development and self-improvement for women through 6 effective action and leadership of trained volunteers; and 7 WHEREAS, Currently there are more than 200,000 members in 291 8 Junior Leagues in four countries; and 9 WHEREAS, The Junior League of Erie was established in 1925 10 and has been an active and innovative force within the Erie 11 community since its inception; and 12 WHEREAS, The Junior League of Erie has a seasonal tradition 13 of fundraisers, including Santa's Castle, rummage sales, Casino 14 Night and Kidfest; and
1 WHEREAS, The Junior League of Erie has donated thousands of 2 dollars and volunteer hours to numerous community organizations 3 and charities; and 4 WHEREAS, In 2000 the Junior League of Erie celebrates its 5 75th anniversary; therefore be it 6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the Junior 7 League of Erie on the occasion of its 75th anniversary in 2000.
