A RESOLUTION
1 Honoring all the men and women who participated in the Battle of
2 the Bulge.
3 WHEREAS, The Battle of the Bulge was a pivotal and historic
4 battle in the victory of the United States and America's allies
5 over Nazi Germany in World War II; and
6 WHEREAS, The contributions and sacrifices of Pennsylvania
7 soldiers and other American soldiers to our country's success in
8 the Battle of the Bulge, one of the bloodiest battles in our
9 nation's history, are deserving of special recognition and
10 honor; and
11 WHEREAS, The 28th Infantry Division of the Pennsylvania
12 National Guard, known as the Keystone Division, played a
13 particularly crucial role in the outcome of the Battle of the
14 Bulge by delaying the advance of seven German divisions for a
15 sufficient period of time to enable the allies to regroup and
16 bring up enough reserves to blunt the German attack; and
17 WHEREAS, The 50th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge will
1 occur in 1994; therefore be it
2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the brave
3 men and women from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who served
4 with honor at the Battle of the Bulge.
