AN ACT
1 Providing for transfer of credit for certain governmental
2 service to a retirement system of the Commonwealth, a county,
3 municipality, or township for retirement purposes.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. In computing years of service for retirement
7 purposes under any governmental retirement system in this
8 Commonwealth, a governmental employee who is a member of any
9 such retirement system shall also receive credit for each year
10 of service or part thereof in the employ of any one or more of
11 the following other governmental employers, namely, the
12 Commonwealth, as a State or school employee, or in the employ of
13 a county, municipality or township, upon compliance with the
14 provisions of section 2.
15 Section 2. A governmental employee deserving credit under
16 the retirement system of his present employer for service as an
17 employee of one or more other governmental employers shall
18 present to the retirement board of his present employer:
1 (1) A certificate from such other governmental employer or
2 employers proving the period of service for which credit is
3 claimed.
4 (2) Payment of his withdrawn contributions to such other
5 system or systems on account of such service, together with
6 simple interest thereon at 6% per annum since such withdrawal.
7 Thereupon, the governmental employee shall receive credit for
8 such governmental retirement system of which he is a member.
9 Section 3. The provisions of this act shall be mandatory as
10 to the governmental employers hereinbefore mentioned but
11 discretionary on the part of employees of such governmental
12 employers.
