        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JULY 2, 1992

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Proclaiming the week of October 24 through November 1, 1992, as
     2     "Red Ribbon Week."

     3     WHEREAS, Alcohol and other drug abuse in this Commonwealth
     4  continues to exist in epidemic proportions; and
     5     WHEREAS, It is imperative that visible, unified prevention
     6  education efforts by community members be launched to reduce the
     7  demand for drugs; and
     8     WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians AWARE is once again sponsoring the
     9  Red Ribbon Campaign offering citizens of this Commonwealth the
    10  opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to a drug-free
    11  lifestyle; and
    12     WHEREAS, The Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated in every
    13  community during "Red Ribbon Week," October 24 through November
    14  1, 1992; and

     1     WHEREAS, Business, government, law enforcement, schools,
     2  religious institutions, service organizations, youth,
     3  physicians, senior citizens, military, sports teams and
     4  individuals will demonstrate their commitment to drug-free,
     5  healthy lifestyles by wearing and displaying red ribbons during
     6  this week-long campaign; therefore be it
     7     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim October
     8  24 through November 1, 1992, as "Red Ribbon Week" and encourage
     9  the citizens of this Commonwealth to participate in drug
    10  education and prevention activities to make a visible show of
    11  support for our strong commitment to a drug-free community; and
    12  be it further
    13     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all
    14  citizens to pledge:
    15                   THE CHOICE FOR ME: DRUG-FREE!
