AN ACT
1 Amending the act of April 6, 1830 (P.L.272, No.157), entitled,
2 "An act for the levy and collection of taxes upon proceedings
3 in courts and in the offices of register and recorder, and
4 for other purposes," exempting certain complaints in divorce
5 from the tax.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. Section 3, act of April 6, 1830 (P.L.272,
9 No.157), entitled, "An act for the levy and collection of taxes
10 upon proceedings in courts, and in the offices of register and
11 recorder, and for other purposes," amended June 25, 1947
12 (P.L.915, No.381), is amended to read:
13 Section 3. And be it further enacted by the authority
14 aforesaid, That the prothonotaries of the courts of common pleas
15 and of the district courts, and the court of nisi prius of this
16 Commonwealth, shall demand and receive on every original writ
17 issued out of said courts (except the writ of habeas corpus,) on
18 the filing of every complaint by which an action is started
19 except a complaint in divorce in forma pauperis, and on the
1 entry of every amicable action, the sum of fifty cents; on every 2 writ of certiorari issued to remove the proceedings of a justice 3 or justices of the peace or aldermen, the sum of fifty cents; on 4 every entry of a judgement by confession or otherwise, where 5 suit has not been previously commenced, the sum of fifty cents; 6 and on every transcript of a judgement of a justice of the peace 7 or alderman, the sum of twenty-five cents. 8 Section 2.
