        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JUNE 27, 1988

                            A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

     1  Urging the Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police to
     2     rescind the directive discontinuing drivers' examinations on
     3     Saturdays.

     4     WHEREAS, Effective July 3, 1988, the Pennsylvania State
     5  Police Examination Units will change from a Tuesday through
     6  Saturday workweek to a Monday through Friday workweek; and
     7     WHEREAS, The effect of this change will be that no drivers'
     8  examinations will be conducted on Saturdays; and
     9     WHEREAS, Since most persons either work or go to school
    10  during the normal Monday through Friday workweek, Saturday is
    11  the only day usually available to take a driver's examination;
    12  and

     1     WHEREAS, This change of schedule will inconvenience most
     2  Pennsylvanians who need to take the driver's examination;
     3  therefore be it
     4     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
     5  of Pennsylvania urge Colonel Ronald M. Sharpe, Commissioner of
     6  the Pennsylvania State Police, to rescind his directive which
     7  eliminates Saturday drivers' tests; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
     9  Colonel Ronald M. Sharpe, Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State
    10  police.
