A RESOLUTION
1 Declaring April 15 through May 13, 1994, as "Penn College/North
2 Campus 10th Anniversary Month."
3 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania College of Technology/North Campus
4 is located in Tioga County on Route 6 between Wellsboro and
5 Mansfield; and
6 WHEREAS, The establishment of the North Campus was based upon
7 a combination of vision, opportunity and need; and
8 WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Dr. Robert Breuder and the
9 direction of college staff, a proposal to establish a North
10 Campus was developed in 1982 and was followed up in 1983 by a
11 community needs assessment survey and a high school student
12 aspiration survey; and
13 WHEREAS, With strong community support and a combination of
14 Federal, State and local funding sources, this proposal became
15 reality when the first class of practical nursing students was
16 enrolled in January 1983; and
17 WHEREAS, The North Campus is the only source of postsecondary
1 occupational training within the Northern tier counties; and
2 WHEREAS, The North Campus is the leading source of
3 specialized training to meet the specific needs of existing
4 business and industry; and
5 WHEREAS, The North Campus is more accessible than the main
6 campus of the college and, therefore, a viable option for most
7 Northern tier residents; therefore be it
8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives declare April 15
9 through May 13, 1994, as "Penn College/North Campus 10th
10 Anniversary Month."
