                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing the Governor to proclaim April 9, 1990, as "POW
     2     Recognition Day" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Several times over the years Americans have been
     4  called to arms to defend our freedoms; and
     5     WHEREAS, Many have given their lives so that we may continue
     6  to live in peace and freedom; and
     7     WHEREAS, Many other members of our armed forces have shed
     8  blood and were captured and thereby subjected to the degradation
     9  and humility of prison camp; and
    10     WHEREAS, Those brave soldiers who were prisoners of war
    11  underwent great stress and hardships; and
    12     WHEREAS, While all Americans owe deep gratitude to our war
    13  veterans, we owe special recognition to Americans who were
    14  captured, and who languished or died in prisoner-of-war camps;
    15  therefore be it
    16     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives memorialize the

     1  Governor to proclaim April 9, 1990, as "POW Recognition Day" in
     2  Pennsylvania, and urge all Pennsylvanians to remember those
     3  citizens who fought for our beliefs and for our country, and to
     4  reflect on the courage of our former prisoners of war.
