        ADOPTED, APRIL 11, 1994

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of April 17 through 23, 1994, as "Week of
     2     the Young Child" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Department of Education, the
     4  Pennsylvania Public Television Network Commission, the
     5  Governor's Policy Office, Pennsylvania Head Start, Pennsylvania
     6  intermediate units, the Harrisburg Patriot-News, the
     7  Pennsylvania Association of Child Care Agencies, the
     8  Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children,
     9  the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, the Pennsylvania
    10  Newspaper Association and Pennsylvania school districts are
    11  observing "Week of the Young Child" from April 17 through 23,
    12  1994; and
    13     WHEREAS, By calling attention to the need for high-quality


     1  early childhood services for all children and families within
     2  this Commonwealth, these groups hope to improve the quality and
     3  availability of such services; and
     4     WHEREAS, The future of this Commonwealth depends on the
     5  quality of the early childhood experiences provided to young
     6  children today; and
     7     WHEREAS, High-quality early childhood services represent a
     8  worthy commitment to our children's future; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
    10  week of April 17 through 23, 1994, as "Week of the Young Child"
    11  in Pennsylvania, express its support of "Week of the Young
    12  Child" activities and urge all citizens to recognize and support
    13  the needs of young children throughout this Commonwealth.
