A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1 Urging the Governor to declare the week of April 19 through 25, 2 1992, as "Ethnic Music and Dance Week." 3 WHEREAS, The strength and character of any nation is inspired 4 by its music; and 5 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania, from the earliest times, has been an 6 amalgam of many races of people, their customs, music, dance and 7 art, from the original natives to the latest refugees; and 8 WHEREAS, This blending of people and art has created an 9 unusual and pervading motif that is distinctly American; and 10 WHEREAS, The music and dance brought to this Nation by many 11 immigrants generations ago have evolved into a unique form of 12 entertainment enjoyed everywhere from our cities to the 13 campfires in the heartlands; and 14 WHEREAS, Thousands of Pennsylvanians thrill to this music and 15 dance in theater and communities throughout this Commonwealth; 16 therefore be it
