HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 267 Session of 1990


        INTRODUCED BY MOEHLMANN, DeWEESE, BRANDT, GRUITZA, MERRY,
           WOZNIAK, MAYERNIK, DEMPSEY, DIETTERICK, VEON, LEH AND HASAY,
           MARCH 14, 1990

                            A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of May 1990 as "Motorcycle Safety Month."

     2     WHEREAS, Nearly 500,000 Pennsylvanians are registered to
     3  operate motorcycles in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
     4     WHEREAS, Many Pennsylvanians and visitors from other states
     5  travel throughout Pennsylvania on motorcycles to visit its many
     6  historic and recreational areas; and
     7     WHEREAS, Spring traditionally marks the return of many
     8  motorcycles to the highways of this Commonwealth; and
     9     WHEREAS, Many accidents involving motorcycles could be
    10  avoided if the drivers of all motor vehicles, including
    11  motorcycles, were more aware of safety considerations relating
    12  to motorcycles; and
    13     WHEREAS, The operators of all motor vehicles, including
    14  motorcycles, as well as all the residents of this Commonwealth,
    15  would benefit from increased understanding and awareness of
    16  motorcycle safety; therefore be it
    17     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly

     1  of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania declare the month of May
     2  1990 as "Motorcycle Safety Month."
