        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, APRIL 30, 1984

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing Congress to pass the Fair Trade in Steel Act.

     2     WHEREAS, The flood of foreign steel imports continues to have
     3  an adverse effect on domestic steel production; and
     4     WHEREAS, The decline of the steel industry in Pennsylvania
     5  causes great unemployment and attendant hardship for
     6  steelworkers, their families, our communities and the economy of
     7  Pennsylvania in general; and
     8     WHEREAS, Much of the steel imported is made by companies
     9  subsidized by foreign governments; now therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
    11  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Congress of the
    12  United States to quickly pass House Resolution No. 4352, the
    13  Fair Trade in Steel Act; and be it further
    14     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
    15  the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each
    16  member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
