        INTRODUCED BY CALTAGIRONE, PICCOLA, DERMODY, BIRMELIN, O'BRIEN,
           WOGAN, JAMES, L. I. COHEN, HENNESSEY, LaGROTTA, YANDRISEVITS,
           MANDERINO, FAJT, REBER, MASLAND, CLARK, RITTER, D. W. SNYDER,
           McNALLY AND HUGHES, NOVEMBER 23, 1993

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Resolution for appointment of committee and empowering it to
     2     make investigation.

     3     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the General
     4  Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, that the Judiciary
     5  Committee is hereby authorized to investigate the conduct of the
     6  Honorable Rolf Larsen of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and
     7  to determine whether the said Rolf Larsen is liable to
     8  impeachment for misbehavior in office, and to report to the
     9  House the conclusions of the committee in respect thereto with
    10  its appropriate recommendations; and be it further
    11     RESOLVED, That the Judiciary Committee shall designate the
    12  Subcommittee on Courts to take testimony, review documents or
    13  other materials and interview witnesses for the use of the said
    14  committee, and said subcommittee is authorized and empowered to
    15  make recommendations to said committee. And the said
    16  subcommittee while so employed is authorized and empowered to
    17  send for persons and papers, to subpoena witnesses, documents,

     1  and other materials under the hand and seal of the Subcommittee
     2  Chairman; to administer oaths to said witnesses, to take
     3  testimony, and to prepare and file pleadings and other legal
     4  documents; and be it further
     5     RESOLVED, That upon receipt of the recommendations of the
     6  Subcommittee on Courts, the Judiciary Committee is hereby
     7  authorized and empowered to send for persons and papers, to
     8  subpoena witnesses, documents and other materials under the hand
     9  and seal of the chairman; to administer oaths to said witnesses,
    10  to take testimony, to prepare and file pleadings and other legal
    11  documents and to employ staff; and be it further
    12     RESOLVED, That a sergeant-at-arms, by himself or deputy,
    13  shall serve the process of said committee and subcommittee and
    14  execute its orders, and the said committee and subcommittee are
    15  authorized to sit during the sessions of this House. The
    16  expenses of this investigation shall be paid out of an
    17  appropriate account of the Chief Clerk. However, if any staff
    18  expenses or compensation are to be paid by the Chief Clerk, the
    19  approval of the Bipartisan Management Committee is required.
