                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing the House of Delegates of the State of West
     2     Virginia to establish a committee to work jointly with a like
     3     committee appointed by the Speaker of the House of
     4     Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to
     5     investigate the events of the massive flooding of the
     6     Monongahela River Basin which occurred on and around November
     7     5, 1985.

     8     WHEREAS, The massive flooding which occurred in the
     9  Monongahela River Basin on and around November 5, 1985, affected
    10  the State of West Virginia as well as the Commonwealth of
    11  Pennsylvania; and
    12     WHEREAS, An investigation of the events surrounding this
    13  national disaster is imperative in order to avoid future losses
    14  of this magnitude; and
    15     WHEREAS, A thorough investigation of these events requires
    16  the cooperation of and input of information from the State of
    17  West Virginia; and
    18     WHEREAS, To implement any suggestions for improving existing
    19  systems and for instituting new ones may require the cooperation
    20  of the State of West Virginia; therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives memorialize the
     2  House of Delegates of the State of West Virginia to establish a
     3  committee to work jointly with a like committee appointed by the
     4  Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of
     5  Pennsylvania to investigate the events of the massive flooding
     6  of the Monongahela River Basin which occurred on and around
     7  November 5, 1985; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
     9  the Honorable Joseph P. Albright, Speaker of the House of
    10  Delegates, Capitol, Charleston, West Virginia.
