                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," further providing for bidding
     6     requirements.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 751(b) of the act of March 10, 1949
    10  (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
    11  amended May 4, 1990 (P.L.164, No.38), is amended to read:
    12     Section 751.  Work to be Done Under Contract Let on Bids;

    14     (b)  The board of school directors in any school district may
    15  perform any construction, reconstruction, repairs, or work of
    16  any nature, where the entire cost or value, including labor and
    17  material, is less than [five thousand dollars ($5000)] twenty-


     1  five thousand dollars ($25,000), by its own maintenance
     2  personnel. The board of school directors in any school district
     3  may authorize the secretary of the board or other executive to
     4  award contracts for construction, reconstruction, repairs, or
     5  work of any nature, where the entire cost or value, including
     6  labor and material, is ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or less,
     7  without soliciting competitive bids, subject, however, to the
     8  provisions of subsection (a.1).

    10     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
