AN ACT
1 Amending Title 65 (Public Officers) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, requiring public officials and public
3 employees who use government vehicles to provide proof of
4 holding a valid driver's license.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Title 65 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8 Statutes is amended by adding a part to read:

2 § 5001. Short title of chapter.
3 This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the Public
4 Official and Employee Driver Licensing Act.
5 § 5002. Definitions.
6 The following words and phrases when used in this chapter
7 shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
8 context clearly indicates otherwise:
9 "Political subdivision." Any county, city, borough,
10 incorporated town, township, school district, vocational school,
11 county institution district, and any authority, entity or body
12 organized by the aforementioned.
13 "Public employee." Any individual employed by the
14 Commonwealth or a political subdivision.
15 "Public official." Any person elected by the public or
16 elected or appointed by a governmental body or an appointed
17 official in the executive, legislative or judicial branch of
18 this Commonwealth or any political subdivision thereof.
19 § 5003. Proof of valid driver's license.
20 Any public official or public employee that operates a
21 government vehicle shall annually provide proof to the
22 respective governmental body or employer responsible for the
23 government vehicle that the person holds a valid driver's
24 license pursuant to the provisions of 75 Pa.C.S. Ch. 15
25 (relating to licensing of drivers).
26 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
