A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of June 2023 as "Homeownership Month" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Homeownership is a centerpiece of the American
dream; and
WHEREAS, Owning a home is the largest personal investment
many families will make; and
WHEREAS, In the last decade, homeowners saw their overall
debt drop by 21%; and
WHEREAS, Improving homeownership opportunities requires the
commitment and cooperation of the private, public and nonprofit
sectors, including the State and local governments; and
WHEREAS, Homeownership can be sustained through appropriate
homeownership education and informed borrowers; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania REALTORS® are trusted community
builders resulting in 75% of Pennsylvanians relying on them for
purchasing a home; and
WHEREAS, The real estate industry accounted for 15% of the

gross State product in 2022; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has seen an increase in homeownership
over the past several years, with nearly 71% of Pennsylvanians
owning the homes in which they reside; and
WHEREAS, Affordable homeownership will play a vital role in
resolving the issues in the United States housing market;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
month of June 2023 as "Homeownership Month" in Pennsylvania.
