Amend Bill, page 1, line 1, by inserting after "remains"
and for implicit bias and cultural competence act
Amend Bill, page 1, by inserting between lines 11 and 12
"Cultural competence." The ability to understand,
communicate with and effectively interact with people of
different races, ethnic groups and cultures relating to health
and the delivery of health care.
Amend Bill, page 2, by inserting between lines 3 and 4
"Implicit bias." A belief or set of associations about a
group or an individual based upon physical characteristics,
race, ethnicity, gender, age, religious creed or sexual
orientation, which can result in the inaccurate attribution of
particular qualities to the group or individual.
Amend Bill, page 3, by inserting between lines 16 and 17
Section 4. Implicit bias and cultural competence training.
For the purpose of the equitable implementation of this act,
the department shall require each licensed obstetrician to
complete training regarding implicit bias and cultural
competence. At a minimum, the training shall include the
understanding of implicit bias and practical techniques to
mitigate implicit bias and improve cultural competence.
