1Amend Bill, page 7, by inserting between lines 10 and 11

2(g) In the event that the landlord wrongfully takes or
3exercises control over personal property in violation of this
4section, the tenant may have the right to bring an emergency
5action against the landlord in a court of competent jurisdiction
6over the rental unit. The following shall apply:

7(1) If a complaint is filed initiating an action under this
8subsection, the court shall set the matter for a hearing which
9shall be held on an expedited basis and within five days
10following the filing of the complaint.

11(2) The tenant shall have the right to punitive damages,
12treble damages, and may be reimbursed for any fees or costs
13incurred by the tenant as a result of the landlord's actions.

14(3) In the event the landlord wrongfully takes or exercises
15control over personal property in violation of this section and
16the tenant is removed from the premises in violation of this
17act, the tenant shall have the right to additional damages
18including a penalty of up to five hundred dollars ($500) per day
19for failure of the landlord to restore possession of the
20personal property to the premises.
