AMENDMENTS TO HOUSE BILL NO. 1607

1Amend Bill, page 3, by inserting between lines 3 and 4

2"Conventional oil and gas well" means a bore hole drilled for
3the purpose of producing oil or gas from a conventional
4formation. Irrespective of technology or design, the term
5includes any of the following:

6(1) A well drilled to produce oil.

7(2) A well drilled to produce natural gas from formations
8other than shale formations.

9(3) A well drilled to produce natural gas from shale
10formations located above the base of the Elk Group or its
11stratigraphic equivalent.

12(4) A well drilled to produce natural gas from shale
13formations located below the base of the Elk Group where natural
14gas can be produced at economic flow rates or in economic
15volumes without the use of vertical or nonvertical well bores
16stimulated by hydraulic fracture treatments or by using
17multilateral well bores or other techniques to expose more of
18the formation to the well bore.

19(5) Irrespective of formation, a well drilled for collateral
20purposes, such as monitoring, geologic logging, secondary and
21tertiary recovery or disposal injection.
