                       AMENDMENTS TO HOUSE BILL NO. 1845

     1       Amend Title, page 1, line 2, by inserting after "Statutes,"
     2               in firearms and other dangerous articles,
     3       Amend Title, page 1, line 3, by inserting after "number"
     4               , for duties of Pennsylvania State Police, for
     5               registration of firearms

     6       Amend Sec. 1, page 1, lines 7 and 8, by striking out all of
     7    said lines and inserting
     8       Section 1.  Section 6110.2 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
     9    Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

    10       Amend Bill, page 2, by inserting between lines 4 and 5
    11       Section 2.  Section 6111.1(b) of Title 18 is amended by
    12    adding a paragraph to read:
    13    § 6111.1.  Pennsylvania State Police.

    15       (b)  Duty of Pennsylvania State Police.--
    16           * * *
    17           (5)  The Pennsylvania State Police shall maintain a
    18       registry of all firearms reported lost or stolen in this
    19       Commonwealth. The registry shall contain, if available, the
    20       manufacturer, model, caliber, serial number and any other
    21       identifying information concerning any firearm reported lost
    22       or stolen, as well as the name of the lawful owner of the
    23       firearm. If a firearm is reported stolen to a local law
    24       enforcement agency, that agency shall collect the required
    25       information and shall submit it to the Pennsylvania State
    26       Police within 24 hours. Information concerning a firearm
    27       reported lost or stolen:
    28               (i)  may be deleted from the registry after 20 years;
    29           and
    30               (ii)  shall be deleted from the registry after the
    31           firearm is returned to the lawful owner.

    33       Section 3.  Sections 6111.4 and 6711 of Title 18 are amended
    34    to read:
    35    § 6111.4.  Registration of firearms.
    36       Notwithstanding any section of this chapter to the contrary,

     1    nothing in this chapter shall be construed to allow any
     2    government or law enforcement agency or any agent thereof to
     3    create, maintain or operate any registry of firearm ownership
     4    within this Commonwealth[.], other than a registry of firearms
     5    reported lost or stolen under section 6111.1(b)(5) (relating to
     6    Pennsylvania State Police). For the purposes of this section
     7    only, the term "firearm" shall include any weapon that is
     8    designed to or may readily be converted to expel any projectile
     9    by the action of an explosive or the frame or receiver of any
    10    such weapon.
