                       AMENDMENTS TO HOUSE BILL NO. 1845

     1       Amend Title, page 1, line 2, by striking out "further
     2    providing" and inserting
     3               in firearms and other dangerous articles, further
     4               providing for the offense of firearms not to be
     5               carried without a license, for license to carry
     6               firearm,

     7       Amend Bill, page 1, lines 7 and 8, by striking out all of
     8    said lines and inserting
     9       Section 1.  Section 6106(b) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
    10    Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a paragraph to read:
    11    § 6106.  Firearms not to be carried without a license.

    13       (b)  Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not
    14    apply to:
    15           * * *
    16           (16)  Any person holding a license in accordance with
    17       section 6109(f)(3).

    19       Section 2.  Section 6109(f)(1) of Title 18 is amended and the
    20    subsection is amended by adding paragraphs to read:
    21    § 6109.  Licenses.
    22       * * *
    23       (f)  Term of license.--
    24           (1)  A license to carry a firearm issued under subsection
    25       (e) shall be valid throughout this Commonwealth for a period
    26       of five years unless extended under paragraph (3) or sooner
    27       revoked.

    29           (3)  Notwithstanding paragraph (1) or any other provision
    30       of law to the contrary, a license to carry a firearm that is
    31       held by a member of the United States Armed Forces or the
    32       Pennsylvania National Guard on Federal active duty and
    33       deployed overseas that is scheduled to expire during the
    34       period of deployment shall be extended until 90 days after
    35       the end of the deployment.
    36           (4)  Possession of a license, together with a copy of the
    37       person's military orders showing the dates of overseas
    38       deployment, including the date that the overseas deployment
    39       ends, shall constitute, during the extension period specified


     1       in paragraph (3), a defense to any charge filed pursuant to
     2       section 6106 (relating to firearms not to be carried without
     3       a license) or 6108 (relating to carrying firearms on public
     4       streets or public property in Philadelphia).

     6       Section 3.  Sections 6110.2 and 6117 of Title 18 are amended
     7    to read:
