Subject: | Recognizing October 2021 as "Italian American Heritage Month" (Columbus Referenced) |
While I had recently co-sponsored a different resolution recognizing October 2021 as “Italian-American Heritage Month in Pennsylvania,” I learned that resolution differs significantly from prior years’ resolutions on the matter and removes any reference to Christopher Columbus. I believe it is worth noting the achievements of Christopher Columbus, for whom a Federal and State holiday is recognized, in proclaiming “Italian-American Heritage Month in Pennsylvania.” Therefore, I am offering a new resolution. I hope you will join me in acknowledging the contributions of Italian-Americans as well as Christopher Columbus, the first Italian to travel to the Americas. The full text of my resolution is attached. |
