Subject: | Resolution to Recognize Flag Day |
I will be introducing a Resolution to officially recognize Flag Day on June 14th. The first U.S flag consisted of alternating red and white thirteen stripes and thirteen stars in a blue field representing a new “Constellation.” The flag was adopted by resolution of the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777 On June 14, 1937 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania became the first state of the Union to celebrate Flag Day as an official state holiday. The flag we fondly know today as the “Stars and Stripes” continues to unify our Nation’s fifty states as one Great Republic. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shall continue to recognize Flag Day and honor the flag of the United States of America which is symbol of hope and freedom for our great nation. |
